Dental Detour
A little backstory as to why I'm pressing pause on posting a new essay to Substack this week and a recap of what you may have missed so far.
Well friends, I’d hoped to power through and produce a new story by today, but the reality is LIFE—or rather, having two abscessed teeth extracted and getting an infection (dry socket) in one of the holes—got in the way…
I’ll spare you the gory details and just say this: DENTAL WORK IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST!
Or maybe it’s just that I have terrible dental luck—I also got dry sockets when I had my wisdom teeth removed in high school and I still remember the pain nearly 25 years later…
I think I’m gonna go with option three, though, and say that it’s both. Ooof.
The good news is I’m *finally* feeling better and officially on the mend, but playing a massive game of catch up with work (and life) after being down for the count for SIX FREAKING DAYS, sooooo this week I bring you a round up of all my essays and posts thus far…just in case you’ve missed any of them:
Welcome to my Substack!: A look at what I'll be sharing and why I'm charging for some of it.
Alone for the Holidays...Again: But after 11 years of being single – and tired of feeling sad about it – I’m shaking shit up and taking a different approach to how I'm spending this holiday season...and beyond.
Trying New Things: A poem on the challenges of being an amateur and the importance of trying new things anyway.
Sadye, Who?: A little bit about me and what I hope we’ll get from our time together here.
Books I Read (and Loved) in 2023!: And what's on my list for next year.
Leaping into the New Year – Literally: Recapping my first skydiving experience, including the full video, my favorite part, the scariest part, whether or not I’d do it again and the thing that surprised me the most.
Mourning Motherhood: A three-part story on the conscious decision not to freeze my eggs and making peace with what that means for me and my future of becoming a mom.
Hot Stalker: A Love Story (sort of) – The recent "meet-cute" moment that led to my decision to ditch the dating apps for good after 10 years of begrudgingly being on them.
Learning to Swim (on Substack): My journey to getting started on this platform and making a case for letting your gut guide you instead of that negative voice in your head.
Happy reading (or listening!) and I’ll be back next week with a new essay and podcast episode!
Sending you love and wishes for good dental health (ha!)…
xx
